PROJECT 2, UNCLAIMED PROPERTY AT SILICONE MOTORS
ACCTG 6155, Fall 2026. Build c14c2737ec6d.

Due Sunday, November 1, 11:59 PM MT. You submit through the Project 2 quiz on
Canvas: the slide deck (PDF), the executive one-pager (PDF) and your data
support file.

This zip holds every Project 2 file you can download. Start with the TLDR at
the top of the guide. Each file below has the same label the guide uses:

Required The graded work depends on it.
Optional help Makes the work easier. You can skip it.
Background Explains the setting, only if escheatment is new to you.

The Project 2 page has the same files and the interactive pages:

Silicone Motors, its records and its law firm are fictional, made up for this
course, and the memo's legal rules are invented. Please do not cite this
project or its made-up legal guidance at work.

REQUIRED
--------
project_2_guide.txt
The guide. Start with the TLDR at the top. It has the Controller's two
questions, every number you report and exactly how it is defined, the
deck and the one-pager, and the rubric.
project_2_guide.md
The same guide as Markdown, for an editor or an AI that reads Markdown.
counsel_memo.txt
The counsel memo, the rule source. Schedule A, the dormancy periods by
state, is an image on pages 3 and 4 of the memo, so it is not in this
    text. Read it from memo_images/.
memo_images/
Schedule A, memo pages 3 and 4. The scanned pages the memo shows are
schedule_a_p3_scan.jpg and schedule_a_p4_scan.jpg. Clean copies of the
same two pages are schedule_a_p3_clean.png and schedule_a_p4_clean.png.
Reading Schedule A into a table is part of the work, and section 3.3 of
the guide has a few tricks for it. For an accessible copy of Schedule A,
    message your instructor on Canvas.
data_dictionary.txt
Every table and column in the database.
data/p2_wallet.sqlite
The database. Open it in DB Browser for SQLite, or in Python with
    sqlite3 or pandas.read_sql.
p2_csv/
Every table as a CSV file, the same data as the database. Read the note
for Excel users at the end of this file before you open one in Excel.

OPTIONAL HELP
-------------
data/schema.sql
The CREATE TABLE statements, with every join listed at the top.
erd.svg
A diagram of the tables, their primary and foreign keys, and how they
join. Open it in a browser.
project2_starter.ipynb
The starter notebook: a load cell for every table, a stub for each step
in the guide, and a numbers section for every item you report. Opened
from this folder, it loads every table from p2_csv/.
onepager_example.pdf
An example one-pager on a different topic. Use it to see what a
one-pager needs; your layout can differ.
project_2_for_ai.txt
The guide, the memo and the data dictionary in one file, with a note for
an AI that the memo's rules govern. Paste it into the AI you work with.
Schedule A is not in it, because it is an image, so give the AI your own
checked rule table when a question turns on a state's rules.
On the Project 2 page only
The data explorer, a SQL editor that runs in your browser:
    https://seanmccaman.com/acctg6155/2026-fall/project-2/interactive/data_explorer.html

BACKGROUND

    to you:

EXCEL USERS
-----------
Do not double-click a CSV to open it. Import each file with Data > From
Text/CSV and set postal_raw to Text, because quoting alone does not stop Excel
from converting it. Let the date columns come in as dates, so date formulas
such as EDATE work on them. Money is in integer cents. Dates are YYYY-MM-DD.
